Individual Decision Time (I.D.T.)
Individual Decision Time is a concept developed in the high school to help students learn to accept the responsibility for their own time and decisions.  Ten to twelfth graders who maintain approved standards in grades and behavior are not assigned to study halls; instead they must make decisions as to how to spend their unscheduled periods.

Reporting Pupil Progress to Parents
Students receive letter grades on reports issued four times a year. The reports will be distributed shortly after the close of each marking period. The four marking periods end in November, January, April, and June.  An evening conference time will be available once a semester.  Parents will be notified of the times and dates.

Working Papers
Working papers are issued at the Tenafly High School Counseling Office.  Youngsters between the ages of 14 and 18 must have working papers to hold full or part-time jobs. To obtain working papers, a student must do the following:

  1. Obtain the required form from the School Counseling Office.

  1. Return the completed form and the required proof of age to the School Counseling Office once the employer, parent, physician and school the student attends have completed their portion of the form.

  1. Working papers are issued to Tenafly students only.  Students wishing to work in New York must call the Office of Attendance at (212) 374-6095 to obtain information and an appointment concerning the necessary forms to be handed in before going into New York.

  1. Students wishing to work out of state other than New York, obtain the papers from the town where place of employment is located.
